Safety Guide
ATV Safety Guide
1. Age and Height Requirements
- Minimum Age: Riders must be at least 15 years old to operate an ATV independently. This age requirement ensures that riders have the physical and mental maturity needed to handle the vehicle safely.
- Height Requirement: Riders should be at least 140 cm (4 feet 7 inches) tall. This ensures they can comfortably reach the handlebars and footrests, allowing for proper control of the ATV.
- Children as Passengers: Children aged 6-14 may ride as passengers on a tandem ATV with an experienced adult driver. However, they must meet the minimum height requirement to ensure they are safely seated.
2. Health and Fitness Guidelines
- Physical Condition: Riders should be in good physical condition, as ATV riding can be physically demanding, especially on rough terrains like mud pools and steep inclines.
- Pre-existing Medical Conditions: Individuals with certain medical conditions, such as heart problems, back issues, or recent surgeries, should consult their doctor before participating in ATV activities. Pregnant women are strongly advised not to ride due to the potential risks associated with sudden movements and jolts.
- Weight Limits: Ensure that the combined weight of the rider and any passenger does not exceed the ATV’s maximum load capacity, which is typically around 150-200 kg (330-440 lbs), depending on the model.
3. Who Should Not Ride
- Underage Riders: Children under 15 years old should not operate an ATV alone. The risks associated with ATV riding require a level of judgment and physical control that younger children may not have.
- Impaired Individuals: Anyone under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any substance that impairs judgment or physical coordination is prohibited from riding. Safety is the top priority, and impairment can lead to accidents.
- Lack of Experience: Beginners are welcome, but they must participate in a thorough safety briefing and practice session before riding. Those uncomfortable with riding should consider sitting out or joining as a passenger with an experienced driver.
4. Pre-Ride Safety Check
- Helmet and Gear: Riders must wear a helmet at all times, along with other protective gear such as gloves, goggles, and sturdy footwear.
- ATV Inspection: Before every ride, our guides will check the ATVs for proper tire pressure, brake functionality, and overall mechanical condition. Riders are also encouraged to perform a quick check themselves and report any issues.
5. Riding Rules and Guidelines
- Follow the Guide: Always stay behind the guide and follow their instructions. They are familiar with the terrain and know how to navigate challenging sections safely.
- Speed Control: Keep a moderate and steady speed. Avoid sudden accelerations or sharp turns, especially on slippery or uneven surfaces.
- No Stunts: Do not attempt stunts, jumps, or any risky maneuvers. Our tracks are designed for safe exploration and fun, not extreme sports.
- Stay on the Path: Stick to the designated track to avoid damaging the environment and for your safety. Venturing off the path can lead to accidents or getting stuck.
6. Emergency Procedures
- In Case of Accident: If an accident occurs, remain calm. Our guides are trained in first aid and will assist you immediately. For serious injuries, we will contact emergency services.
- ATV Breakdown: If your ATV breaks down, do not attempt to fix it yourself. Signal the guide, who will help or arrange for a replacement vehicle.
- Lost or Separated: If you become separated from the group, stay put and wait for the guide to find you. Venturing off to look for the group can lead to getting lost.
7. After the Ride
- Cool Down and Stretch: After the ride, take time to stretch and relax your muscles. ATV riding can be physically taxing, so a proper cool-down is essential.
- Check for Injuries: Perform a quick self-check for any minor injuries like scrapes or bruises. Clean and treat any cuts immediately.
- Hydration and Nutrition: Drink plenty of water and have a light snack to replenish your energy.
8. Additional Tips
- Respect the Environment: Always respect nature by not littering and staying on designated paths.
- Respect Other Riders: Maintain a safe distance from other riders to avoid collisions and ensure everyone has a good experience.
